Have you ever had a season where you just… didn’t feel like yourself?

Same. We’ve been there more times than we can count.

There have been phases where we felt kind of dull, kind of off, like the spark just wasn’t there the way it used to be. You’re still living your life, still doing your thing, but you catch your reflection and it just doesn’t hit. And it’s frustrating because you know you’re in there somewhere, you just don’t feel fully turned on.

We don't like that feeling... and we've learned sometimes the shift you’re craving isn’t some massive life overhaul, it’s just wanting to look in the mirror and think, okay yes… this feels like me again.

At Cultivate, our mission is simple:
To help you love what you see when you look in the mirror.

Ready for change?

Eight years ago, it was just me (hi, I’m Shelby, the owner of Cultivate) and a big dream, because I was in a season where I didn’t fully feel like myself either. I loved doing hair, but I didn’t love how I felt in the spaces I was sitting in. I didn’t love the pressure-y, awkward, slightly intimidating salon vibes. I didn’t love the forced small talk or the cold energy. And honestly, I didn’t love walking out of places still feeling like something was off.

I wanted something warmer. I wanted high standards without the weird ego. I wanted women to walk in and not feel judged, rushed, or like they had to shrink themselves.

& If I’m being honest, this place started in one of those seasons.

& what happened next shocked me. One client told her friend. Then another. Then I hired my first stylist and remember thinking, okay wow, this is real and I really hope I don’t screw it up. And then somehow there was another chair filled, and then another, and it stopped being just my little setup and started feeling like something with a pulse.

And the wild part is the energy never got weird.

It never turned cold or competitive or too cool for eye contact. The right women just kept showing up. Women who care about people, who get genuinely excited when someone feels hot again, who don’t cut corners because it actually matters to them.

Now there are fourteen of us in here, which still kind of blows my mind.

So yeah. I signed a lease, and Cultivate was born

We care about how you’re actually doing. We’re not robots mixing toner and moving on. If something’s heavy, we feel it. If something’s exciting, we’re hyping you up. It’s just human in here.
